I'm using the Notes app on my iPhone quite a lot. I'm using it for shopping lists, small memos, christmas wishes, to-do-lists and stuff like that. But I'm also using it as a reminder of movies I'd like to watch some day. It happens too often that I can't think of a movie I'd like to watch and therefore end up with a movie I've seen 20 times before or a tv show that really isn't that good. I'm so happy with my newfound list and I would like to present it for you guys. Maybe we can inspire each other.
In these days my list looks like this:
The Spectacular Now // 2013 // James Ponsoldt
Starring: Shailene Woodley, Brie Larson, Miles Teller
Why?: I don't think it's an insanely good movie, but sometimes I actually like to watch high school movies, and it's difficult to find a somewhat decent one. I think this movie is okay and nice for a girly sleepover. So if you're into lame high school dramas that still has some qualities, I'll suggestion "The Spectacular Now".
City Island // 2009 // Raymond De Felitta
Starring: Andy Garcia, Emily Mortimer, Julianna Margulies
Why?: I don't know much about the actors or the director but it seems to be a cute little story with some funny moments and of course some drama but it's hard to get around these days. If you're in the mood for a good laugh I think "City Island" might be able to provide.
Everthing is Illuminated // 2005 // Liev Schreiber
Starring: Elijah Wood, Eugene Hutz, Jonathan Safran Foer
Why: Maybe you've already seen this movie, cause it's not a new one. I like Elijah when he's not a cry face in "The Lord of The Rings". I think he's quite talented and charming. And I would like to watch a movie directed by Liev Schreiber. He's the guy from Wolverine. I actually think he's the brother but I honestly can't remember. Oh, and "Everything is Illuminated" is a comedy slash drama.
The station agent // 2003 // Thomas McCarthy
Starring: Peter Dinklage, Paula Garcés, Josh Pais, Richard Kind
Why: It would love to see Peter Dinklage aka Tyrion Lannister in something other than Game Of Thrones. Just to confirm that he's still awesome. "The Station Agent" actually seems to be a very nice movie in deed. Must see this. I'll just add that to my notes. We're dealing with a comedy slash drama again. I don't know what happened to my favorite genre action ... Comedy begone!
Rushmore // 1998 // Wes Anderson
Starring: Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, Olivia Williams, Brian Cox
Why: I don't know why I haven't seen this movie yet. I mean, I've certainly watched a lot of Anderson movies and I kind of like them. It's not like I'm a huge fan or anything. I just think they're cute and relatively intelligent. I'm actually a huge Bill Murray find although my boyfriend can't stand him so I think I'll have to watch "Rushmore" by myself.
Happiness // 1998 // Todd Solondz
Starring: Philip Seymour Hoffman (RIP), Lara Flynn Boyle, Jane Adams, Jon Lovitz
Why: I've had a craving for watching some movies directed by Todd Solondz for a while now and somehow I manage to forgot about it over and over. Sources tell me that "Happiness" and "Welcome To The Dollhouse" is his best work. Hopefully I'll remember Todd the next time. Fingers crossed.
Short Cuts // 1993 // Robert Altman
Starring: Andie MacDowell, Jack Lemmon, Julianne Moore, Bruce Davison
Why: I know! It's kind of a mom movie. Like "The English Patient" and "The House of The Spirits" and it's not on top of my list, but it's always nice to have some backup movies ready, I think. And you're definitely guarantied loads of drama in "Short Cuts".
